Definition

Volition is concerned with willpower, kinetics, desires, intention, sense of self & self-worth, fortitude, strength of character/personality, responsibilities, decision-making, and perception of stances in social hierarchy. It is identified most with internal identity and is the main sphere with which a person makes their decisions, how they make their decisions, and under what circ*mstances to make certain decisions, who take advice from. It's presence or lack of presence is often identified by whether or not goals are being set, how they are set, and how they are pursued. It's origin is the spirit.

This is the most important aspect out of the four, it acts as a pivot for the rest of the functions and heavily influences how they manifest depending on where it is positioned because it is the manifestation of self-conception.

Denoted by 'V' or 'B' or 'W' - but 'V' is most common. It may also be referred to as 'will'

1V - "Tsar"

The 1st Will sees in the Absolute an unconscious, blind volitional principle (Schopenhauer, Hartmann, Kierkegaard, etc.), and eternity rewards exclusively the human "spirit", the will.

Voluntarists believe only in personal energy

Contrary to popular misconceptions, the First Will does not make its owner a tyrant, and also does not always help to achieve any goals set by it (although such manifestations may also be present in 1V, but the essence of this aspect is not in them).

First of all, 1V is the freedom to be yourself, on the one hand, and connectedness with your decisions, on the other. We all know that the third function in psychosophy is dual, but this also applies to some extent to the first function. So, 1F is under the yoke of their physical inclinations and addictions, 1E is under the yoke of their feelings and experiences, 1L is dependent on their opinions and ideas about the world. 1B are not free from their own desires, which they identify with their "I". Refusing to achieve what you want, for 1B, is tantamount to ceasing to be yourself.

Actually, this is the difference between twos and ones.Twos do not tend to attach so much importance to their aspect, so their self-expression is free and natural. We can say that 1B is 2B, imbued with a sense of self-importance.That is why she strives for power and self-affirmation.The First Will needs not only to remain itself, not to deviate from its essence and its true desires (and with the definition of true desires, 1V has no problems, unlike 3V), but also to be an imperative in relation to the world around. It is impossible to impose your desire on 1B, to dissuade you from something either, but if the First Will wants to force you to do something, it is very likely that it will be able to find a way for this. Moreover, it will not always be direct pressure, here much depends on the socionic type (for example,Zhukov uses pressure and his authority, Napoleon - pressure in half with persuasion, will try to “please” you in order to achieve his goal;Don Quixote and Robespierre will be inventive and find an unexpected solution, Huxley will use connections, Jack will make a plan based on how a similar goal was achieved by others, and will follow it;Hamlet will manipulate ethically, Yesenin will choose a convenient moment, etc.).

Here is the main point why the Will in psychosophy is confused with the aspect of emergency in socionics.Pressure just refers to the aspect of emergency situations, and a person can manifest it from any function - both basic, and role-playing and suggestive. But impenetrable self-confidence (not demonstrative) is a fairly accurate indicator of 1B.Of course, 3Bs can also pretend to be self-confident, but their self-esteem can always be breached in one way or another. With 1B this will not work.

For the reason that it is impossible for 1B to give up their desire and they strive with all their heart for its realization, then there is almost always a way for this.As the saying goes, he who seeks will find. Therefore, statements 1B, which irritate 3B so much, that if you want, you will find a way to achieve, are not unfounded and are based on your own positive experience.

In addition, the First Wills are devoid of guilt for their actions, they take their essence (and therefore their actions and the desires that led to them) for granted. They make good leaders, because they do not tend to complex because of the inconsistency of themselves with the place they occupy, which means they artificially create “show-offs” around themselves. On the contrary, they enthusiastically take responsibility for the common cause and practically identify it with themselves.

2V - "Nobleman"

The Second Will provokes people, excuse me, to whine, and when it receives it, it is touched by it, like a contented mother is touched by the whims of her child.Favorite occupation - to calm the bombing people, to show diplomacy in order to reconcile everyone in his field of vision. At the same time, he can ask a person for a long time and tediously about his plans and intentions, and then gently explain why he does not need it or will not be able to achieve what he wants, and beg him to abandon them in favor of others that 2B considers more acceptable. The Second Will can ask for a long time why you feel bad or what exactly does not suit you in your life, and persistently offer to think together on a solution.

3V - "Bourgeoisie"

Processional/Conscious -

Principal/Introverted -

Low/Objective -

According to BestSocionics

The Third Will is a trinity that is difficult to understand, since its problems cover all spheres of life.3B - this is the person who "it is not clear what he wants."He has a lot of ambition and a lot of self-doubt.These people seem secretive from the outside. At the same time, they react sharply to disrespect for themselves, ignoring, they are offended where the other would not have found a reason.

Having learned 3B closer, you definitely come across his complexes: whining on the topic “I am a nonentity, a loser, I will not achieve anything in life” is the norm for the Third Wills. It looks like she finds more and more reasons for self-abasem*nt.However, if the situation becomes critical, 3B suddenly performs volitional actions that change her life, which invariably surprises those around her.At the right moment, 3B knows how to pull himself together. These people are responsible, which is explained by two reasons: they are collectivists and are worried about the common cause;they are afraid to let others down and run into disapproval.

Understanding the intricacies of the social hierarchy is a constant desire of 3B.They strive to realize and improve their status in society, at the same time they evaluate other people in terms of their place on the social ladder.Often 3Bs have problems with a sense of humor. They find it difficult to laugh at themselves;they love cruel jokes that humiliate people - this, again, is connected with the hierarchical consciousness of this function.

It is common for the Third Wills to protect their social status by any means - including with the help of lies and pretense. They use "show-offs", trying to show themselves better than they really are.Their slogan is “better to seem than to be” (as opposed to 1B, for example). At the same time, 3Bs are well aware of other people's torment about status, and try not to hurt someone else's pride once again.

4V - "Serf"

Resultative/Unconscious -

Unprincipled/Extroverted -

Low/Objective -

According to BestSocionics

The Fourth Will becomes weak-willed, waiting for decisions and active actions from others. At this moment, she can be forced to do anything, stubbornness disappears somewhere, but if she is not forced to do anything, then she will freeze in an apathetic state and will “break away” in her upper functions: eating sweets, hysteria or thinking. In the normal state, the 4B is a sweet, relaxed person who allows others to be themselves in his company. He can take the lead, but only if he is “assigned” by those around him, but hardly of his own free will, because he does not like to strain and bear responsibility too much. There is an opinion that the Fourth Wills have no ambitions - this is not so. But it is easier for them to realize their ambitions alone, without responsibility “for a common cause”. In addition, 4B can be “infected” with your dreams and plans with prolonged exposure
